SEO – What I Have Learned

[ad_1]

If you are still in the process of getting acquainted with Search Engine Optimization, henceforth referred to as SEO in this post, you will know that first and foremost there are two different SEO strategies. On the one hand, you have the on-site SEO strategies and on the other hand there are off-site SEO strategies. Most of the posts that I have read about on the Internet educate us with the on-site strategies that one can make use of to be successful in cyberspace.

Having been in the sphere for a period of over five years working with hundreds of clients, I have accumulated quite a fair bit of knowledge about SEO. I wish to share my knowledge on this post with the aim that it helps you in your endeavour to make money from your website.

For anyone who knows a bit about SEO, there are a few basic things that a website owner needs to be familiar with. These are:

a. The title tag

It is the tag in your HTML Meta code that tells the browser what to display on the title of the window which appears at the top of your screens. Google relies heavily on this text as a hint to what your page is all about. Hence, it is very important to fill your title tag with keywords that are most apt to the content of your blog/site.

b. The name of the web page

For SEO purposes, it is advisable to use plain English when you name the pages on your website. Some names perform better than others solely because there is descriptive text in the page name, which allows the search engines to know what your page is all about. It is a good idea to stay away from variable data while you design the system. Descriptive text in plain English is the way to go.

c. Keywords

On this front, I will advise you to keep a look out for both keyword density as well as keyword Meta tags as a correct blend will make your website flourish. Although the latter has become of less importance of late, I still believe that populating your keyword tags is still a good SEO tactic. Coming to keyword density, keep one thing in mind. Search Engines are like huge computer programs which try to figure out what your site is all about and rank you accordingly. It is best to keep the keyword density between 2-3% at most. While you write your post though, at least for the first draft, do not place much importance on this aspect. It is something that should be taken care of while you edit your post.

d. Great Content

This is the most important part of SEO. The textual content that you post on your website should be immaculate. The content has to be original and of a high quality. Google states bluntly “Write for the reader, maintaining originality and quality, and we will take care of the rest”. In cyberspace, Content is King!
